Miss World 2010 Part 7 : Sports Fast Track
Lori Moore from Northern Ireland took the second semifinal spot after she won the gold medal of Sports Fast Track held at Sheraton Sanya Resort. The silver medal went to Slovakia while the bronze medal went to Norway, who also placed third at Beach Beauty Fast Track earlier this week. In the team category, the award for the best sports team this year went to Blue Team.
The 115 contestants were initially divided into 4 teams, Yellow, Pink, White, and Blue. After a series of preliminary challenges, 5 best contestants were selected from each team to face off in the final round. They had to give their best shot at sprint race, long jump, and swimming competition. The scores from each event were tabulated to determine the best sportswoman this year. In the end, Northern Ireland, who is a triple jumper, edged out her competitors and won the competition.
Sports itself has been created since 2003 when Miss World started to consider health and fitness as an important aspect of the competition. So far none of its winner has ever gone to win Miss World crown. The closest one was Nazanin Afshin Jam from Canada in 2003 who barely missed the crown and ended in the second place. So it’s officially a challenge for Lori Moore to break the curse and becomes the first Sports winner to win Miss World title.
Congratulations Northern Ireland ... see you in semifinal round!
