The picture above, taken during the 1980 Miss Universe Pageant in Seoul, Korea, shows Miss New Zealand Delyse Nottle and Miss Tahiti Thilda Raina Fuller admiring the Miss Universe crown held by Venezuela's Maritza Sayalero, Miss Universe 1979. Both Miss New Zealand and Miss Tahiti were wearing traditional Korean costumes with crane motif. Interestingly, for Korean people, crane is a symbol of good luck, health, and happiness. Whether it's coincidence or not, the crane motif indeed became a sort of good luck charm for both of them. Miss New Zealand ended up as Second Runner Up while Miss Tahiti made the Top 12.
